John Hong Champion for promoting and uplifting New Zealand’s global reputation in the Asian world
A celebrity in the NZ Asian Community, especially the Chinese Community, John Hong has been a long standing champion of promoting NZ globally and helping new migrants as well as Chinese visitors and delegations to better invest, study and settle down in New Zealand.
John currently works as a Court Interpreter for the Ministry of Justice; Chief Investment Advisor for Safari Group, a renowned Kiwi company; and Brand Ambassador for Orient Construction Group. John is instrumental in bringing in major investors and business partners, such as Fuwah Group International (which owns two of the four Park Hyatt Hotels in Australasia), ICBC New Zealand, Hunan Construction, Beijing Construction and many others.
Other roles John has held, both in public and private sectors in Asia and New Zealand, include: Chief Representative and Country Manager for Puma; Chief Representative for American Company serving global brands Adidas, Etonic, Tretorn etc.; Head of Investment and International Relationships for Auckland Council; Asian Liaison Officer for Statistics New Zealand; Principal Advisor China for ATEED; Advisor to Chairman and former Auckland Regional Council (ARC) before the Auckland Super City was formed; Interpreter for all New Zealand Mayors during inaugural launch of New-China Mayoral Forum by LGNZ; Interpreter for Auckland Mayors and Palmerston North Mayor during Mayoral Trade Mission to China; Board of Directors for Pigeon Mountain School; Heights Park Committee; Chief Advisor New Zealand Samoa General Chamber of Commerce; and many other NGOs. John was ranked as one of the 25 most influential New Zealanders by the New Zealand Herald.
